Environmental Management System Unit
The Angkor Environmental Management System Unit - EMS Unit
- was established in May 2003 by a Japanese-Joint Team and
the APSARA Authority to play a core role in implementing
the Angkor Environmental Management System. The EMS Unit
and 6 other members from all departments of APSARA Authority
are currently under training for the Angkor Environmental
Management System through the International Standard (ISO)
14001.
Registered in 1992 on the World Heritage List, the Archaeological
Park of Angkor (Angkor Park) has been under the protection
and management of APSARA Authority since this date. The
Angkor Park contains many temples and local inhabitations
in beautiful natural surroundings and is increasingly attracting
the attention of national and international visitors.
The Environmental Management System was introduced to APSARA
Authority in order to manage the region, conserve and maintain
the buildings of historical significance as well as developing
the region, and also to create a society based on a sustainable
development for the next generations in harmony wsith the
environment, culture and communities.
