Project background

The region of Angkor has recently seen a significant increase in the number of tourists visiting Siemreap, as well as the number of people throwing waste into the rivers and forests, a boom in hotel construction and a higher volume of car traffic.

These factors can have adverse impacts on Angkor's heritage and local people's lives, and create an unfavorable image of the region, which may alienate visitors.

The Environmental Management System is needed for the protection and improvement of the environment of the Angkor area (for example, to reduce the waste volume and keep the water and air clean).
