Villages in Protected zone

The map of 1995 needed to be updated, since some new villages have been created. The statistics presented answer the concerns of APSARA for the most exact figures possible related to the villages and to the inhabitants of zones 1 and 2. These so-called zones are submitted to strict regulation, due to the particular density of the ancient heritage. The GIS Unit and the ‘Ex-Social Research’ Team combined their efforts in collecting all the necessary data and updating the map of the villages.

Update new roads

We used a GPS (globle positioning system) machine to draw the new road lines in order to update the map of Siemreap Region.

Demarcation of protected zones 1 & 2

APSARA Authority has established a major project in May 2004 to demarcate the protected zones 1 and 2. This project implemented by the GIS unit, Geography Department and Department of Monument and Archaeology.

The main purpose of this project:

1. Let the people know clearly about the protected zones.
2. Stop the people who make the business land in protected zones.
3. Stop the people who build the new houses in protected zones.
