27, December 2005: The Inauguration of Road Rehabilitation Project

On December 27, 2005, the APSARA Authority with the honorable presence of H.E Mr. BUN Narith, Director General of the APSARA Authority, had inaugurated a road rehabilitation project which links the world renowned Ankgor Wat temple to the Siem Reap city and the Siem Reap International Airport.

This rehabilitation project is design to upgrade the present condition of the road and to enlarge the present lane width from 6m to 9m including each shoulder width of 0,5m on both sides. With the total length of 4571m, the project will construct an additional 2m lane width on both sides for cyclist, motorist and pedestrian which are only separated from the main lane by trees. Hence, the accessible lane width of the road will become 14m in total.

Upon completion, this road will become one of the main gateways providing accessible connection from Siem Reap city to the Angkor Archeological Park. Likewise, it serves as an alternative road which provides bypass option to the motorists from being traveling through the Park. Therefore, it helps facilitating transportation networks and eases trafficking conditions within and around Siem Reap city.

Furthermore, the road provides motorists and tourists, alike, the opportunities to witness spectacular revelation scenery of the Angkor Wat as they are slowly approaching the Park.
