The Research on Sarsey Kiln Sites

After finishing the excavation of Tani Kilns, APSARA Authority and National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, In 2003 NARA Teams have started a new research on Sasey Village, Tbeng Commune, Banteay Srei District, Siemreap province.

After removal of the top layer

This research is aimed to look for the structure of this kiln and in order to compare with the excavated of Tani kiln.

In December 2004, we mapped the Topographical Contour Line on the southern part of Trapang Neang Snay where most of Kilns existed. We numbered those kiln as kiln number 9, 10, 11 and 12.

Result of the excavation

In February 2005, we excavated one of the kilns. As the time for NARA Team is very limited, we excavated kiln number 11 only the upper part of the kiln. We found only piece of kiln roof and one side of kiln wall.

We will excavate again in December 2005 to see the whole kiln structure.
