The Ceramics training course

This year, with cooperation between APSARA Authority and Ceramics Conservation Lab of Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh an organized special training course on Ceramic Conservation was offered to technical staff (archaeologists) from various organizations in Angkor Park. The course was held from 20th April to 6th June 2005 (studied every Monday and had 8 lessons) at Nara Institute in Siem Reap.


Activities of the trainees in the training course

The course had 20 participants, who came from APSARA Authority, NARA Institute, SOPHIA University, JSA, CSA, WMF, WASEDA University and EFEO.

The course mainly focused on:

  • Excavation Care of Artifacts
  • Organization of large numbers of objects
  • Photo-documentation
  • Cataloguing
  • Use of the APSARA Authority database
  • Storage systems
  • Cleaning
  • Collection care

Result of the training course

From the training course, participants obtained practical experience and useful knowledge to implement in their organization.
