Forestry Management Unit

The Forestry Management Unit has a few people in charge of the following works:

  • To survey all the big trees or decaying trees (risky trees) in Angkor Park that could fall or be damaged by storms or rain. In order to avoid the impact of the vegetation on the monument and its surroundings, as well as the risk of damage to its structure and to its visitors from trees, the Unit as well takes an emergency measure by pruning or fell.
  • To cut down the trees which are growing on the temple by using long bamboo or wooden scaffolding and ropes to hang the branches or trunks down step by step.

Due to the good quality of the wood collected from this work, it will be kept for the requirements of the Unit and given to the carpenters of the Monument Clearance Unit.
