Management of the Hotel Zone

In order to make the Hotel Zone an attractive area for investment, the Department of Urbanization and Development in Siemreap Angkor Region is providing facilities and services such as:

  • Road building
  • Land adminstration
  • Regulation related to building in the Hotel Zone

Road building

With the help of French government aid (AFD), APSARA Authority has built two new roads. These two roads run to the Hotel Zone, one leading north from Phsar Leu towards Angkor Park, while the other runs west to enter the town of Siemreap opposite Jayavarman VII Children's Hospital.

The road across the Hotel Zone to the temples in Angkor Park.

The department has planted trees lining both sides of the road. It decided to grow different kinds of trees along the four sections of the road: T1 (starting at the junction of National Road 06 and ending at the circle at the edge of the Hotel Zone), T2 (starting at the circle and ending at the mini tour road in Angkor Park), T3 (starting at the the Jayavaraman VII Children's Hospital and ending at the bridge, built by APSARA Authority, across Siem Reap River) and T4 (starting at the bridge and ending at the circle at the edge of the Hotel Zone). The different trees will give each section a unique view.

Land administration

The department has established a coalition to study issues related to land administration. Members of the group include staff from the Ministry of Finance, local authorities and the Department of Demography.

Current hypotheses recommend to develop the Hotel Zone in five years. The first stage will include 60 hectares for the construction of 7 hotels (1,700 rooms), as well as service and leisure facilities. The average size of these commercial plots will be between 5 and 10 hectares. The second stage will include 319 hectares more.

Building regulations in the Hotel Zone

To make the Hotel Zone an attractive model for Siemreap, the Deparment of Urban Planning has issued certain building regulations.
